After Hiroshima

Went to the opening of After Hiroshima last night at the Plymouth Arts Centre. I’m afraind afraid to say that apart from it being the first use of a nuclear weapon, I only really knew anything about it from OMD’s Enola Gay so it was a bit of an education. Obviously the destruction and number of deaths were horrific but what really stuck with me was the way it was kept secret for years afterwards. Survivors weren’t allowed to talk about it and all film was censored. In this day and age where cameras in bombs are shown on the 10 o’clock news as they fall onto their target, it’s hard to believe that something like that was kept in such secrecy for so long.
