Project 52
I’ve long been fascinated by photographers’ 365 projects and have always wanted to do something similar. After researching other year long projects, I’ve decided to do one. Not with photographs but by producing a piece of code every week – more like a project52 than 365. Although i won’t have a theme to follow like most project365s, I’ve decided to keep to a set criteria:
- Each project will be a visualisation of an RSS feed
- The code will be developed using Processing and will be made open source
- Each project must be completed and published on my site by 22:00 Sunday night
- Each project will be developed using the Greenscreen template even though they might not be suitable for displaying on it
Having done some visualisations in the past, some will work and others will just look a mess but then that’s the joy of creating something that you have no control over the outcome. I also apologise in advance if some of them are too abstract or too obvious
Due to the security needed for java applets, each visualisation will prompt you to grant it access to your computer. Don’t worry it’s not ACTUALLY accessing data on your computer but essentially asking permission to run.
The project started on 5th September 2011. If you would like to get involved by suggesting RSS feeds then please contact me.
